Big Black Bears can be every bit as challenging as any whitetail. Here at Chase Outfitters we attempt to do all our hunting in the month of June, this is when the large rutting males start dropping their guard. We are often asked why we only hunt the month of June. There are many factors, the rut being the most important. Comfortable and multi bears on bait after 6 or 7 weeks of feeding undisturbed makes for a great hunt and lots of opportunities to kill.

We start our hunting week on Sunday, the entire day is used to set up your treestand at the bait site to your shooting ability. Long ago we decided the hunter should never be tested.

Each of our bait sites are hunted once a year.  

** Sometimes an exception to this rule is made when a great bear is seen but not shot

Most of our hunters come with a goal in mind, a personal best or hopes of  shooting a bear that would qualify for the Pope and Young Record Book.

Skull size is the only true measure of a black bear and 18" is big. You will have a better than 30% shot opportunity on a P&Y bear and  90% if your goal is to go home with a nice bear. On a hunt with Chase Outfitters, you will be put to the test, for it's not uncommon to see several bears.

Eight hunters a week or less, usually it's a group of friends, if not, by the time the week is finished you are. Chase Outfitters is, Cory Spencer,  and myself, George Chase. When a bear is shot all who are willing and able take part in the recovery.

For first time hunters to New Brunswick, you will get to see some of the most beautiful country on the east coast, so bring your camera. The month of June is the perfect time to see our moose in open ground.
